1st Pilipinas Open

The first Pilipinas Open was held at The Greenery, a splendid resort owned by Ms. Evelyn Salvador, the first-ever patron of the Pilipinas Open.

At the venue, everyone enjoyed seeing both foreign and local competitors doing their fiercest best during the competition. Yet the revelation was how the participants put in so much energy to enjoy the camaraderie at the after-comp party. All happened because of the inspiring resort venue!

This practically set the tone on how the Pilipinas Open should distinguish itself from other competitions in Asia - to have absolute fun not only at the dance floor but outside the dance floor as well!

2nd Pilipinas Open

After the successful maiden year, the challenge was to come up with a bigger competition the following year.

This was never a problem thanks to the generosity of the mother and daughter tandem, Ms. Preciosa Soliven and Ms. Sarah Soliven De Guzman, who truly helped make the 2nd Pilipinas Open a complete success!

Everything was so well-organized from the dance congress attended by hundreds of participants wanting to learn from the dance masters, to the competition proper at the spectacularly designed venue (OB Montessori Center) complete with TV coverage from IBC Channel 13, and all the way to the after-comp party initially serenaded by a string quartet then eventually ending with unlimited fun and laughter.

Serving as climax of the competition, the Professional Ballroom and Latin champions that night (Alessio, Veronika, Arkady and Rosa) gave an extended spectacular show to the delight of everyone.

Last year’s event is the biggest so far. Top couples from England, Italy, Russia, Brazil, China, Japan, Hongkong, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines competed making the 2017 Pilipinas Open a real dance showdown featuring the best Asian dancers together with several of the best from around the world.

The Midas Hotel Grand Ballroom was literally bursting with the sheer number of attendees and the intensity of the performances!

There were also more sought-after foreign adjudicators and several of them conducted the dance congress including the world-acclaimed champion/dance coach/fashion designer Mr. Espen Salberg and Mr. Luka Fanni.

The after-comp activities included days of beach and surfing making the lucky participants say, “it’s really more fun in the Philippines”.

The success of the 3rd Pilipinas Open was made possible with the help of no less than the PAGCOR Chairman Andrea Domingo, the Midas Hotel and the patrons (Ms. Juliet Genio and  Ms. Aya Talampas).
